There was mild drama as the witness for the respondent, former governor Godswill Akpabio in the Akwa Ibom senatorial election litigation contradicted himself at the tribunal on Tuesday, September 15.
The All Progressives Congress for Akwa Ibom northwest senatorial district, Chief Inebehe Okori had approached the tribunal questioning the conduct and declaration of Akpabio as the winner of the March 28 polls.
According to This Day, the witness, Micheal Akpan, admitted before the tribunal that their constituencies had in the past elections voted for some members of the opposition. He had earlier informed the tribunal that Ukanafun people had always voted for the Peoples Democratic Party as a tradition.
When asked by counsel to the petitioner, Chief Assam Assam (SAN), if he knew Ubong Etiebet, he admitted he knew him as a former member of the House of Representatives for Ukanafun/Oruk Anam federal constituency on the platform of the ANPP thereby contradicting himself.

–The Code of Conduct Bureau has slammed a 13-count charge of corruption on the President of the Nigerian Senate, Bukola Saraki.
In charge number ABT/01/15, dated September 11 and filed before the Code of Conduct Tribunal, Mr. Saraki is accused of offences ranging from anticipatory declaration of assets to making false declaration of assets in forms he filed before the Code of Conduct Bureau while he was governor of Kwara state.

 Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has said its application forms for the 2015 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, is now available nationwide for prospective candidates, reaffirming that the examination will be on Computer-Based Test (mode) only.

President Muhammadu Buhari hinted yesterday that the federal government was currently negotiating with Boko Haram to secure the release of the over 200 schoolgirls abducted in Chibok, Borno State, last year.
 On its part, the sect has given conditions for the release of the girls, among which is the demand for the release of one of its members who has been strategic in developing Improvised Explosives Devices (IEDs).
Buhari, however, declared that his government would not accept such a condition.
The president disclosed this in response to questions from members of the Nigerian community in France under the auspices of Nigerians in Diaspora Organization (NIDO).
