DSS arrests two more judges, freeze accounts of others under investigation


Agents of the Department of State Security DSS have arrested two more judges over allegations of corruption. According to The Nation, Justices Bashir Sukola and Ladan Manir of the Kaduna State High Court, were arrested in Kaduna and taken to the DSS Headquarters in Abuja at about 8.30pm yesterday October 12th.

To show the seriousness of the state's anti-grazing bill, Governor Fayose yesterday personally inspected the arrest of some cows at  Ikole Ekiti. He came across herdsmen along Afao Ekiti road, Ado Ekiti ‎and personally saw to it that one of the cows was "arrested" by youths who chased it after the herdsmen ran into the bush upon seeing the governor's security men. The remaining cows ran into the bush too. Ekiti Grazing Enforcement Marshall (EGEM) will start work in a few days time.

US government to host 19 Northern governors next week


The US government will next week host 19 Northern state governors in Washington DC. The governors will be visiting the states at the invitation of the United States Institute of Peace (USIP).

They will be participating in the Northern Nigeria Governors Symposium slated for Tuesday October 18th to Friday October 21st. USIP Senior Advisors and former ambassadors, Princeton Lyman and Johnnie Carson who addressed a pre-symposium media briefing yesterday October 12th, said the institute’s Northern Governors’ symposium was designed to amongst other things, seek possible ways of attaining lasting peace in the North.

Presidency mounts pressure on BBC Hausa Service not to broadcast Aisha Buhari's revealing interview

The BBC Hausa Service is under intense pressure from President Buhari and members of his cabinet not to air the recent interview granted by his wife, Aisha Buhari, which is due for broadcast on Saturday, according to Sahara Reporters.
