Ogun private school owners protest over multiple levies


Private school owners in Ogun State on Wednesday protested over alleged multiple levies and charges by the state government.

Scores of the private schools owners under the aegis of National Associations of Proprietors of Private Schools, Ogun chapter, stormed the Nigeria Union of Journalists Secretariat, Oke Ilewo, Abeokuta protesting  against the more than 150 per cent increase in the charges for the First School Leaving Certificate examination.
They said it has been increased  from N500 to N2,000.he protesters displayed placards with different inscriptions such as

There was a mild drama at the investigative public hearing on the alleged mismanagement of N120bn Aviation Intervention Fund, organised by the Senate Committee on Aviation on Wednesday when the former Chairman of the defunct Air Nigeria, Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim, denied collecting N35.5bn from the Bank of Industry.

There has been anxiety on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway since 1am on Wednesday after a fuel-laden tanker went up in inflames around Ibafo area causing gridlock.

Kidnapped Rev. Father found dead in Benue

The decaying corpse of kidnapped Rev. Father, John Adeyi was Wednesday found in Otukpa, Benue State as police and villagers besieged the back of Local Government secretariat where the body was dumped by his suspected abductors.
Two months ago, Father Adeyi, the vicar general of the Otukpo catholic Diocese was kidnapped by unknown gunmen but was never released despite the payment of N2 million as ransom.
He was never found even though the Benue State Government made an offer of N5 Million to anyone who could supply information on his whereabouts until his body was discovered at the back of the LGA Secretariat at Otukpa, Ogbadibo Local Government Area.Police public relation officer, ASP Moses Yamo confirmed the story, saying police would do everything possible to bring the perpetrators to book.
