Nigeria already getting out of recession –Adeosun


The Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, has said the country is already getting out of the economic recession, given the pragmatic approaches the Federal Government is taking to reverse the trend.
She said this on Wednesday while fielding questions from journalists at the end of a two-day National Council of Finance and Economic Development conference held at the Green Legacy Resort, Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta.

ASUU condemns attack on LAUTECH staff


The Academic Staff Union of University, University of Ibadan chapter, has condemned the attacks by some hoodlums on members of staff of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, on Tuesday.
The zonal coordinator, Dr Ade Adejumo, in a statement, demanded that the Police bring the perpetrators of the crime to book.

Edo election: Six arrested for violating movement restriction


A combined security team set up to monitor the Edo governorship election has arrested six persons for disobeying restriction of movement order.
The Edo Comptroller of Prisons and member of the team, Mr Amadin Osayande, said in Benin that the suspects were arrested at Welfare junction, Upper Sakponba road, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, on Wednesday.

Mourinho ready to leave Rooney out again


Jose Mourinho may leave Wayne Rooney out of Manchester United’s starting side for the second match in a row when they face Ukrainian side Zorya Luhansk in the Europa League on Thursday.
Rooney was on the bench for United’s weekend game with Premier League champions Leicester City and didn’t get on until very late in the game as Mourinho’s side showed their best form of the season in a superb 4-1 win.

Peres served twice as Israel’s PM and once as president in a glittering political career.
He suffered a stroke two weeks ago.

The National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Oyegun, has expressed satisfaction with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)’s conduct of the Edo State governorship election.
Oyegun, who voted at Ward 2, Unit 2 in Oredo local government area at 11: 45 a.m., said: “I am impressed with the conduct of the election so far.

Lagos Assembly summons contractor of poorly constructed road In Itokin-Ikorodu


The Lagos State House of Assembly has reportedly summoned DHV Nigeria Limited, the construction company that handled the Federal Low Cost Bye Pass Itokun road in Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area, Lagos. There was a report yesterday that the road, commissioned just last week, has already started deteriorating. (Read here).

The newly constructed road is part of 114 roads constructed across the 20 local governments and 37 local council development areas in the State.
