Mark Vows to Die in PDP as Bigwigs Decamp to APC Ahead of Senate Rerun

Former president of the senate, David Mark has vowed to remain the last man standing in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a gale of high profile defection hits the party in Benue State.

Mark who is facing the political battle of his life since the court ordered a rerun election for his Benue South senatorial district seat in the National Assembly, said he is not perturbed by the defection of bigwigs into the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The PDP has suffered a blow as former minister, John Ode, former deputy governor, Steve Lawani, Lawrence Onoja and a host of other top chieftains of the party from the zone have decided to pitch tent with the APC.
This significant development is coming at the heels of a crucial rerun poll basically between Mark and the candidate of the APC, youthful Daniel Onjeh.
In a statement reacting to reports in the social media that he had endorsed the cross carpeting, Mark said he could not contemplate joining those he described as cowards seeking a soft-landing from past misdeeds.
The statement said: “Senator Mark is known for what he says and does and like a real man and trained Soldier that he is, he would not be party to any form of cowardice, which is noticeable among the decampees that are obviously looking for soft landing and/or milk jacket with the opposition party, APC.”
According to Mark in the statement signed by Comrade James Oche, National Coordinator,  Door to Door for David Mark, the report was the handiwork of Onjeh and his band of social media propgandists.
The senator said: “The way and manner in which the story was concocted and the level of intelligence of the preponderants left no one in doubt that,  that was also one of the machinations of Mr. Onjeh and his army of hired ancillary propagandists.
“How on earth would they have imagined that the most  respected Senator and the pillar of democracy in Nigeria would condescend to the point of making an open address that he could have defected if not for the impending rerun election?
“Did Onjeh put words in his (Senator Mark’s ) mouth when he reiterated his commitment to his party, PDP a year ago and vowed to remain steadfast even if he is the last man standing?
“Let it be known to Onjeh and his litany of social media miscreants that, like every other lies they have tried to sell in the past; this too, has become unsellable as the people of zone C have discovered their antics which they say is synonymous with the the name Dan Onjeh.
“It’s also very pertinent to acknowledge that, the more campaigns of hates and calumny that the Onjeh camp orchestrates,  the more popular our Senator becomes and the more sympathies he records from the people, who were hitherto hoodwinked by the clothed lies Onjeh was known for.
“On a final note,  our amiable illustrious David Mark remains unperturbed with the plethora of lies. Rather, he appreciates the supports and solidarity he has enjoyed so far from his constituents.
“He has given his words that he won’t fail his people and we are so sure that Zone C people would come out enmasse and vote for the man who has done so much to put Idoma nation in national and international map.”
