Kabiru Sokoto, a member of  Boko Haram sect accused of facilitating bomb attacks on the police headquarters in Sokoto State and some other government organizations in the state between 2007 and 2012 was yesterday September 4th sentenced to life imprisonment by a Abuja based high court.

Presiding judge, Justice Adeniyi Ademola found Kabiru guilty of also having prior knowledge of the bomb attack at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church on December 25th 2011.

Poor refineries: FG issues supplementary import permit for petrol

The Federal Government has issued supplementary import permit to oil marketers for the importation of petrol into Nigeria due to the fact that the output of the country’s refineries is still poor.

It was learnt that the permit for petrol was given to marketers on Thursday by the government and they were asked to import to supplement domestic production.

The Eagles started on a good note, beating Chad 2-0 under former manager Stephen Keshi. But Egypt’s 3-0 win over Tanzania in their first game meant Nigeria are second in the group.

Nigeria have never lost to Tanzania before since their first meeting in 1972. The Eagles have won four times, while two of their meetings ended in draws.

The world's shortest man Chandra Dangi from Nepal has died. He died from pneumonia in a US hospital yesterday September 4th. He was 75. He had been sick in his home which he was treating but had traveled to the US for work where he was rushed to the hospital after his symptoms worsened
