President Buhari signs Paris Agreement; says Nigeria will reverse effects of climate change


President Muhammadu Buhari has said that his signing of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change has demonstrated Nigeria’s commitment to a global effort to reverse the effects of the negative trend.
 The President said this while addressing the opening of the meeting on Taking Climate Action for Sustainable Development in New York, co-hosted by Nigeria and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) as one of the Side Events of the 71st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA71).

MTN refutes report on bribery for fine reduction allegation

The Chief Executive Officer of MTN, Mr Ferdi Moolman, announced on Friday that the telecommunications giant did not give bribe for the reduction of the N1.04 trillion fine slammed on the company for infraction.
Moolman said in a statement in Lagos that MTN’s attention had been drawn to an online report, alleging that a top official in the Presidency took bribe from the company to get the Federal Government to reduce the fine.

Return stolen assets stashed in your countries- Pres. Buhari tells United Nations

 
President Buhari yesterday told members of the United Nations to return stolen funds and assets that are stashed in their countries. He made the call while speaking at a session in the ongoing UN General Assembly currently holding in New York. 
"Illicit financial assets harbored abroad deprive developing countries including Nigeria the enjoyment of their national wealth and resources required for development. This is why Nigeria calls on the United Nations to remain vocal and active in addressing the negative impact of non-repatriation of illicit financial assets. As soon as stolen assets are legally established, they should swiftly be repatriated"he said

Ondo: APC ignores protests, sends Akeredolu’s name to INEC


The national leadership of the All Progressives Congress has forwarded the name of  Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) to the Independent National Electoral Commission in Abuja as its governorship candidate in the November 26 governorship election in Ondo State.
It also forwarded the name of Mr. Agboola Ajayi as Akeredolu’s running mate.
While Akeredolu hails from Owo, his running mate is said to be from Ese-Odo Local Government Area of the state.
