Tight security as Oba of Benin receives staff of office

 

Security has been beefed up in Edo State, ahead of Thursday (today’s) coronation of the crown prince, His Royal Highness, Eheneden Erediauwa, as the new oba of Benin Kingdom.

Prince Eheneden will leave Usama Palace, where he has been since October 9 for Benin, the state capital.

He is also expected to pass through Isekherhe to perform the ceremonial crossing of a river before moving to Urho-Okpota for the coronation ceremony.

Ondo Poll: APC flays Fayose’s call for political violence

The All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ondo state has described Ekiti state governor, Ayodele Fayose’s call for violence should the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loss the forthcoming Governorship election in Ondo State as unfortunate and a barbaric conduct.
The Party emphasised that the statement was unbecoming of a Governor and a supposed Chief Security Officer (CS0) of Ekiti state.

Oba of Benin: Crown prince leaves Usama palace for Urho-Okpota

 

Ahead of his coronation on Thursday, the crown prince of Benin Kingdom, His Royal Highness, Eheneden Erediauwa, has procee‎ded from the Usama palace on Siluko road to Urho-Okpota.

The procession is part of activities lined up for his coronation as the 39th Oba of Benin Kingdom.

Prince Eheneden was accompanied by several Benin chiefs, the Ekassa group, the Isenwenro group and other traditional societies and groups.

Buhari’s full Ambassadorial list

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday sent 46 names of non-career ambassadorial nominees to the Senate for confirmation and approval.
The names were contained in a letter from President to the Red chamber, which was received and read by Senate President Senate, Bukola Saraki, during Thursday plenary.

Fayose: Obanikoro’s return planned to nail me

The testimony of former Minister of State (Defence) Musiliu Obanikoro in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) appears to be rattling Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose.

Obanikoro claimed that he gave Fayose N2.3 billion, which came from the former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.) in the run-up to the June 21, 2014 governorship election in Ekiti State.

Apparently troubled by Obanikoro’s evidence, Fayose, in a statement made available to reporters yesterday, alleged that the ex-minister’s return from the United States was “arranged and compromised” in a bid to nail him (Fayose).

He promised that the Federal Government would take over the education of the girls.

The president received the girls and their parents at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has said that the revelations by former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, has vindicated its claim that Governor Ayodele Fayose’s election on June 21, 2014, was compromised through heavy funding by the Federal Government, which also deployed the military, including compromise of INEC, to give victory to the governor.
