19 die in Lagos-Ibadan Expressway crash



No fewer than 19 people have been reported dead in a multiple crash at the Fidiwo/Ajebo end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
the accident involved a fully loaded commercial bus, a fuel tanker and a Dangote truck.
It was learnt that the tanker, which was travelling to Ibadan, Oyo State, had attempted to overtake the Dangote truck, when it had a head-on collision with the commercial bus.

Justice Niki Tobi dies at 76


Former Supreme Court judge, Justice Niki Tobi, has died at the age of 76.
Tobi, who was also a former deputy vice-chancellor of the University of Maiduguri, died at the National Hospital in Abuja, it was gathered.
The late justice was appointed to the Supreme Court in 2002 and spent eight years at the apex court.
He reportedly battled ill health in the final years of his life.

Edo gov primary: PDP begins accreditation of 740 delegates


The accreditation of the 740 delegates for Monday’s governorship primary of the Peoples Democratic Party ‎in Edo State has begun in three centres located in Benin, the state capital.
‎The delegates drawn from the 192 wards in the state are expected take part in the exercise to elect a candidate to fly the flag of the major opposition party in the September 10 gubernatorial election.

Civil servants shut finance ministry over poor welfare


Civil servants at the Federal Ministry of Finance on Monday shut down the headquarters of the ministry in Abuja over what they described as poor welfare since the assumption of office of the Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun.

EFCC arraigns Diezani’s ally, Omokore, ex-NNPC GMD


The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission says it will arraign Mr. Jide Omokore, an ally of a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke.
The EFCC will also arraign Mr. Andrew Yakubu, a former Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petropeum Corporation, before Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on four counts of Money Laundering.
Other defendants to be charged are:Victor Briggs, Abiye Memnere, David Mbanefo, Atlantic Energy Brass Development Limited and Atlantic Energy Drilling Concepts Limited

Buhari returns, challenges journalist to wrestling contest June 20, 2016



President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday returned to Nigeria after spending 14 days in London, United Kingdom.
In a short interaction at the airport, Buhari challenged one of the State House correspondents, who asked him about his state of health, to a wrestling contest.

Fayose accuses FG of plot to harrass PDP leaders, associates with EFCC, Says; "My election not funded with govt fund"


Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has told the President Mohammadu Buhari led All Progressives Congress (APC) to stop harassing his government by threatening functionaries of the government with arrest and looking for how his election was funded, declaring that; "my election was not funded with public fund and President Buhari and his APC should also tell Nigerians how their own elections were funded." Addressing journalists in Abuja on Sunday, Governor Fayose said;
