Pogba missed out on the FIFA team of the year by just two votes


In case you're wondering how the most  expensive player on the planet didn't make FIFA's team of the year, world football's governing body has an explanation. In an announcement, FIFA said:

Super Eagles captain and former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel explained why he accepted to move to Chinese Premier League to team up with Tianjin Teda. He said it was done to help Nigeria’s push to be at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Mikel had been primarily snubbed from playing with the first team by Chelsea Coach, Antonio Conte, but he still remained a regular for the national team

EFCC discovers N632.2m in former Chief Judge’s account


The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it made a huge discovery on the former Chief Judge of Enugu State, Innocent Azubuike Umezulike. Operatives of EFCC says it discovered N632.2 million in the former judge's bank account, reiterating it as the reason for his involuntary retirement.

Nigeria severs diplomatic ties with Taiwan, shuts its Abuja office


The federal government yesterday announced that Nigeria will be severing its diplomatic ties with Taiwan and that the Taiwan diplomatic office in Abuja should be relocated to Lagos where it will now serve as as Trade mission.

Woman gives birth inside BRT bus in Lagos (photos)


A woman gave birth to a baby boy inside a BRT bus in Lagos on Wednesday, January 11 2017. The woman had reportedly become restless shortly after boarding the bus and soon went into labour.

With assistance from passengers in the bus, she was delivered of a baby boy at about 9 a.m. After the delivery the woman was taken to the hospital, while other passengers were transferred to a different bus...

Senate rejects ban on vehicle importation through land borders


The senate yesterday rejected the Federal government's proposed ban on vehicle importation by road in the country. At its plenary which was presided over by deputy senate president, Ike Ekweremadu, yesterday January 11th, the senate called on the Nigeria Customs Service to immediately suspend the policy on the outright ban on the importation of vehicles through the country’s land borders which took effect from January 1st this year.
