The peaceful protest was held in solidarity of the student union leaders
suspended by the school authorities. They echoed the demands of the
rusticated leaders; provide basic amenities.
The protest was perfectly timed for the visit of the Vice President of India, Mohammad Hamid Ansari.
It looks like the Indian Presidency seems to be having a run of bad
luck with West African Universities. One of the consequences of India's
President Pranab Mukherjee to the University of Ghana, led to a protest.
The protests this
year first began when student leaders protested the poor management and
inability to provide basic amenities in the University. A consequence of
this protest was the rustication of a student leader Olufemi Adeyeye.
